Mason Ornelas

Coach Ornelas enters his first season as the pitching coach at Cisco College.

Prior to Cisco, Coach Ornelas was a standout pitcher at the University of Nebraska. At Nebraska (2022-2023), he compilied a 2-0 record with an 5.31 ERA, striking out 26 batters. Prior to Nebraska, Ornelas pitched at Texas A&M University (2020-2021). As an Aggie, Ornelas posted a 4-2 record with a 4.37 ERA, striking out 55 batters. Ornelas attended L.D. Bell High School and was a three-year letterwinner under coach Paul Gibson. Regarded as a top pitching prospect out of high school, he earned numerous All-Distric honors, inluding an All-State nomination his senior year. Ornelas was tabbed as the 15th ranked pitcher in the state of Texas.

Ornelas will join his fellow assistant coach, Vega, this summer after being named the Pitching Coach for the Abilene Flying Bison in the Mid-America League.
