This past weekend the Cisco College Women's Volleyball team embarked on their first action of the 2022 season at the Region V/Region IV challenge hosted by Coastal Bend College.
On Day 1, the Wranglers opened up with Wharton County Community College and toiled through a straight set loss. Unforced errors hurt the Wranglers as they struggled to get into a rhythm. However, they came roaring back with a 3-set victory against the host Cougars. Freshman middle blocker Brooklynn Burnside led the Wranglers with 13 kills, 3 aces, and 7 blocks, while Sophomore libero Cassie Esquivel had 42 digs in the six sets.

Day 2 of the Challenge saw Cisco taking on #7 Blinn College. The Wranglers started out strong taking the first set 25-22. The ladies battled from there but ended up on the wrong side of a 3-1 outcome. Sophomore outside hitters Kindsee Escamilla and Peyton Warren led the offense, totaling 9 kills each. Sophomore setter Gracie Story compiled the first double-double of the year with 33 assists and 10 digs.

The Wranglers get to open up their home schedule tomorrow (August 23rd) against Western Texas College at 5:00 pm. According to Coach Stenman, the "ladies are really excited to play at home for the first time and to build on the effort they showed this weekend." Look for a fast-paced match as Cisco looks to avenge two loses to WTC last season. Come fill the gym at 5:00 pm for what should be a great Region V match-up.
