AT THE NET With Cisco Volleyball

This past Saturday we played North Central Texas College (NCTC) in Gainesville, starting our 3rd conference game 2-0. We began our first set slowly, and tried to build momentum. We have a strong serving team, but struggled this set ending 19-25. The next set we began to adapt, but fell short again 21-25. In the third set we started much stronger and won the set 25-19, taking the Westerners into a fourth set. In the final set, however, NCTC battled back and secured a 3-1 win. Although we lost, this match showed us how important confidence and focus are when playing skilled teams. We look forward to playing NCTC again on March 8th.

On Monday, we played our fourth conference match against Vernon College. The game started with a slight delay when we arrived in Vernon, as they were experiencing a brief city wide power outage. Luckily, everyone stayed safe, the power returned and both teams were ready to play! We started out a little slow, but halfway into the set we got familiar with how Vernon was playing and won the first set 25-20. The second set we started out strong, and gained necessary momentum. Our serve receive was solid, and our setters utilized our middle hitters, Bethany and Sydney well. We won the set 25-11!

The last set Vernon started strong, switching things up. We adjusted well, and continued to fight for the third set. We went on some serving runs, and had amazing offensive plays. We won 25-11 again, earning us a 3 set sweep. All 18 of us had a chance to step on the court at some point during the 3 sets, and each one of us played with intensity and energy. A slow start led to s strong finish and another conference win. We now stand at 3-1 in conference, and are eager to play our next match.
