Wranglers Take Down Apaches

Wranglers Take Down Apaches
Head Women's Basketball Coach Brock Kimball knew Thursday night's game against Tyler Junior College would be "a real tough challenge" for the Lady Wranglers heading into Christmas break, but the Cisco College team pulled off their second win this week by defeating the 2022 national champions 67-64.

The TJC Apaches coming into the game were 7-3. "They needed a game because no one would play them," Coach Kimball said. Even though it was challenging, "that's how I wanted the schedule to be," he said. After the game, he said the victory over Tyler was "a huge win for our entire program. So proud of our effort. Anytime you beat a program that's on the national level it's a big thing, but this one means a little more since we just played a game on Tuesday." The Lady Wranglers had defeated Coastal Bend College 87-44 on Tuesday. Cisco is now 6-3 overall on the win chart.

"Our players showed some serious toughness" Thursday night, Coach Kimball said. "All the credit in the world to every player on the team. I told them not many teams are ending the semester this way, but we are fighting and showing our grit." Still, "we can't get too high on this one," he said. "We are excited until midnight, and then our minds move to Howard College. Howard has already beat us once this year so we really want to get them here at home."

The game against Howard College will be played at 3 p.m. Saturday in Schaefer Gym on the Cisco campus. (Wrangler Express photos and article)
