Lady Wranglers go 2-1 in Opening Weekend

The Lady Wranglers traveled down to Kenedy last weekend to play in the Coastal Bend College Round Robin against Lamar State and Coastal Bend.

Taylor Ramirez had a great eye at the plate on Friday, as Ramirez walked three times while leading Cisco to an 8-5 victory over Lamar State. She opened up the game as well with a solo homerun in the top of the first. In the top of the third inning Mia Wimmer extended the lead to 3-0 with a triple. Alyssa Brister also had a solo homerun and by the fourth inning the Wranglers were up 6-0. Akaysia Grogan earned the win for Cisco allowing three hits and five runs, striking out five and walking five. Natalie Pinon, Ramirez, and Brister each collected two hits, while Wimmer had three RBI's.

The second game ended in a 10-2 victory over Coastal Bend College. In the top of the first inning Taylor Ramirez stayed hot with a triple, Alyssa Brister hit a sacrifice fly, and Gracyn Slack singled, each scoring a run. In the top of the third the Wranglers continued to put up runs, while Taylor Ramirez hit her second solo home run of the day. Lily Watson, Natalie Pinon, and Madison Schroeder all doubled, each scoring one run in the top of the fourth. Brooke McLaurin earned the win for Cisco, surrendering six hits and two runs over four innings, striking out four and walking one. Natalie Pinon and Taylor Ramirez both went 2-for-2.

On Saturday the Lady Wranglers matched up with Lamar State again and unfortunately took the loss. On the bright side Natalie Pinon, Lillian Watson, and Kassidy Bradshaw each collected a hit. Bradshaw also stole two bases out of three for the game. Cisco also put together six walks and scored three runs.
